The Birds are Coming!

I used to think that when you were old, They sent an eagle to tear out your vitals.





Now I think it's more like -- what They send is a flock of canaries, one at a time, to peck you to death.

    Your avian metaphors remind me of one of my late mother's remarks. Confronted with various well-meaning relatives' suggestions for what she should do with her life at a "crossroads" point, she said, "I'd rather be pecked to death by baby ducks."
