A new variety of obit I've noticed lately in the Post-Standard is one I'm calling "RIP Old Rip." The decedent is usually though not always male; the obit recites in loving detail the ways in which the Old Rip flouted convention and was generally an Old Rip; and the paragraph about arrangements always begins: "A celebration of Old Rip's life will take place at [insert name of his/her favorite bar here]..."
